Where to Stay in Toronto
Billeting
Have you considered staying with a U of T med student?
It’s not the Four Seasons, but a couch is free!! It will also let you learn more about U of T from the people that know it best. A med student can also answer any questions that you may have about the interview process itself or take you for a nice night out to explore the city.
Billeting spots are limited and open on a first come-first served basis, so make arrangements to billet now! Please contact UofTMeds.admissions@gmail.com to request billeting and indicate your name, email, how many days/nights required, and if you prefer a male/female host
Please note that medical students have committed to provide accommodations for only the night before your interview. Staying longer is at the discretion of your host and something you must request to them directly. Our hosts are also not expected to provide mock interviews or “insider information”, and your choice to billet will not affect your application to medical school in any way.
Commuting
Outside the Greater Toronto Area:
It is possible to travel to Toronto on the day of your interview. Students have been known to commute from as far away as Ottawa on interview day and make it on time for afternoon interviews. If you are tight on time or money, this could be an option for you. Commuters, however, always run the risk of running late so leave enough buffer time. If you need to be downtown for 8 a.m., your safest bet would be to arrange accommodation in Toronto the night before. Inside the Greater Toronto Area: For students who will commute from the suburbs, the trip to the Medical Sciences Building or Toronto General Hospital is straightforward. If you’re unfamiliar with the downtown campus, then consider practicing your route a week before your interview. We want to make sure you arrive with plenty of time to cool your nerves. Commuting is a reasonable option for students that live in the suburbs around Toronto (Brampton, Mississauga, Scarborough, North York, Oakville, etc) or have interviews in the afternoon.
