We know. We can't believe it either. Yay!

For those of you who will be seeking accomodations in Toronto, we would like to refer you to the Torontomeds forum [www.torontomeds.com/forum]. At this site, you will be able to communicate with other medical students, both new and current, about places to live in the city. So if you’d like to live with another med student next year, this is the place!

There are several useful websites for searching for accomodations in Toronto. These include, but are not limited to:

*NEW* http://www.housing.utoronto.ca - here you're find UofT's Student Housing Services which is a complete resource for finding housing in Toronto. You'll find information about residences, off-campus housing, and a variety of events throughout the summer to help you in your search.

http://toronto.craigslist.org - While not affiliated in any way with the university, there are hundreds of postings for rooms, houses, and condominiums for rent everyday.

General Housing Tips:

1. Shop around! You may find yourself under pressure to settle on a place that’s not perfect for you. Be assured that there are hundreds of places to live, and given enough time, you will find the right place for you
2. There is afforadable living in Toronto. Living expenses in Toronto can be unsettling, but don’t be put off by the $2000/month Bay St. penthouse condos. You will find many affordable options including apartment buildings, housing in the Annex, and others. Finding a roommate or two will also cut on costs.
3. You don’t have to live on Bay St. While Bay St. between Dundas St. and Bloor St. is very popular among medical students, there are lots of places to live in the city. Remember to Shop Around! Bay St. may be close to the school, but walking a few extra minutes might find you a nicer place, and save you a bundle.
4. Many landlords require reference and credit checks. Don’t be surprised if you’re asked for this information.

If you have other questions about housing in Toronto, feel free to contact us throughout the summer.
