 P.A.S.S. is YOUR program

Students and faculty members developed P.A.S.S with your concerns in mind.  Our advisors will act as the student’s advocate, providing confidential advice and support independent from official sources.

Let P.A.S.S help keep the pieces together

Background

PASS is your program. It was developed by students and faculty members so that there would be a place where students could get help and advice that was independent from the official sources in the Dean’s Offices (e.g. UMEO). There are some personal issues that students prefer not to relate to those in authority in the medical school. The advisors and members of the PASS office are required to “keep in confidence information given by a student ... and divulge only with the permission of the student except when otherwise required by law.” The advisors are prepared to act as advocates for students should difficulties arise in the medical school, and will refer students for specialist help if circumstances warrant it

Some examples are:

PERSONAL CONCERNS: physical or mental health problems, social or family relationship situations.

ACADEMIC CONCERNS: student mistreatment, course difficulties and advice on academic appeals.

Many of these situations are handled by referral to or in collaboration with a wide variety of special campus and community resources. Special sessions for individual, groups or workshops can be arranged.  Please feel free to contact the Director or any advisor directly.
